MALE PHYSIOTHERAPIST-PERSONAL ASSISTANT

Job Description
I am a 52 year-old gay man with an HIV related neurological brain condition. This is usually a progressive condition but is currently stabilised by medication. My condition however may change and if I became unwell the job could change significantly.
Presently I am unable to stand unassisted, as I have no balance control. My legs and right arm have restricted mobility. I am unable to grip with my right hand and writing is difficult. The condition at times affects my mood.
I require support in a wide range of areas such as personal care, household duties, social, college and work/ voluntary commitments. Assistance with physiotherapy exercises mobilising my arms and legs. Help with administration of my personal affairs.
My life is reasonably busy and varied. I have been working for the last 14 years. I have been abroad several times and go out to cinemas, pubs, theatre etc. I have a sense of humour, but value quiet times and overall enjoy my life. I am currently not working.
The work requires trust, punctuality, common sense and organisational skills to maintain a tidy and hygienic environment. It also requires not being under the influence of any substance at that alters your ability to be relied upon safely. The atmosphere is reasonably relaxed and the vast majority of staff have worked for over a year.
There is a separate room available for your use while you are working. You will be on call to be awake during the night to help me change my position in bed.
I have 21-hour support per day over 24 hours for 7 days per week. Current rates of pay are £144.64 per shift and £180.88 at weekends.
Extra hourly rates are £8.84 weekdays and £9.76 at weekends for any additional hours. Holidays are 5.6 weeks paid pro rata.
